"Back to Basics"

2034 marks the 400th anniversary of St. Mary’s City, the birthplace of Maryland. Those that landed here set out to accomplish a vision for our state that would allow citizens new opportunities for travel and business, and ultimately, an improved quality of life. While the county has seen rapid population growth and an economic boom, its amenities have lagged.

We must improve infrastructure, education, and economic diversity to meet the vision of those who landed in St. Mary's City on the Arc and the Dove. These are issues that we should all be united in solving.  We must protect Pax River Naval Air Station (NAS) from future rounds of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), and more importantly, improve the quality of life here in St. Mary’s County.

Our priorities in Annapolis to meet this vision are:

  • Seeking funding to continue the expansion of the Airport and the Southern MD Higher Education Center.

  • Focusing on infrastructure that promotes cohesiveness and facilitates collaboration between PAX River NAS, Webster Field, Indian Head, and Dahlgren, VA.

  • Developing a comprehensive tourism plan that ties St. Mary’s County attractions to other Maryland offerings.

  • Diversifying our economy through enhancing small business and supporting farmers in creating markets for their products.

  • Protecting our veterans and children through the improvement of mental health services.

  • Improving transportation services in the county, especially to lessen the burden on our senior population. We need to replace and augment our aging bus fleet with more efficient transportation resources that grant citizens greater access to health facilities and cultural events in nearby metropolitan areas.

  • Finding solutions for affordable housing, especially for our veterans, teachers, and emergency service providers.
